Another chatterPDX curated show brings us the Rosebud String Quartet from Alberta, Canada. Members of the Edmonton Symphony, Canadian Opera, and National Ballet Orchestras join together to perform as a new and exciting quartet of virtuosos. The first half of our Combo Concert is a masterpiece of string quartet repertory, The first half String Quartet will be Joseph Haydn, String Quartet in F minor, Op. 20 No. 5. And always offering a contrasting second “set”, Grammy nominated percussionist Niel DePonte and pianist BLANK join the quartet to perform excerpts from Portland composer Kenji Bunch’s piece for percussionist, string quartet and Susan Smith piano entitled TRACKINGS. This work, commissioned by Niel and premiered in 2023, outlines elements of the African-American diaspora and its influence on many different musical genres.
