The Ultimate Combo Concert!

FEATURING:
Ben Kim, Pianist
Maria Garcia, Pianist
Michael Crusoe, Timpanist
Hanami Froom, Vioist
THE ULTIMATE COMBO CONCERT! The Bartok Sonata for two pianos and percussion/and violin prodigy Hanami Froom in recital.
Of all the concerts ever held at the barn, this concert is one of Niel’s favorite programs. The Bartok Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion is one of the most important works ever written for a chamber ensemble. This fascinating mix of Hungarian folk idioms and incredibly complex and challenging piano parts, accompanied by timpani and percussion is as amazing to see performed in person as it is to hear. Barn favorites, pianists Ben Kim from Berlin, and Maria Garcia from Portland, join Niel and the former timpanist of the Seattle Symphony Michael Crusoe to perform a work that is rarely performed in Portland.
Combine this with a rare solo appearance by violinist Hanami Froom, once a child prodigy who grew up in Portland and is now appearing with ensembles such as the Philadelphia orchestra and launching a solo and chamber music career. Hanami has recently appeared as a guest artist at the Aspen Music Festival and the Rome Chamber Music Festival has soloed with the Savannah Philharmonic among other appearances. Come hear her play works by Chausson, Bartok, Ysaye, and other great composers accompanied by Ben Kim on piano.
